As the weather warms up (or doesn’t depending on the degree of global warming that has hit your side of the world lol) I always seem to become more prone to nasty breakouts and blemishes. So as winter begins to (slowly) fade away, I always need to revamp my skincare routine to make sure it remains as healthy as possible. Here are a few of my current faves:
This product is an absolute gem for those days when nothing seems to cure a pesky breakout and your skin just needs fast relief. It’s a daily treatment, so I usually get the 5-pack (because it’s WAY on the pricey side and I can’t afford to actually use it daily), but five doses does the trick! My skin is always a lot more radiant and less blemish-y after about a week of use. If you have sensitive skin, I’d suggest using the original formula instead of extra strength.
Micellar Water, $7
BRUUUUUUH. This stuff must legit be from the same pool of Bethesda the Bible talks about in John because it is ah-mahz-ing! lol. But what it REALLY is is engineered artificial water with NO OILS that draws out makeup, dirt and impurities from the surface of your skin and leaves it completely clean. And it WORKS! I’ve used makeup wipes that don’t take of half as much makeup as this stuff does with a little cotton pad. It’s great for those nights when you’re too lazy to wash your face (yes, we all have them) or better yet for BEFORE you wash your face to ensure a really great clean. And it’s cheap! You can grab both the Simple and Garnier versions in your local drugstore.
Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash, $22 (5oz)
This is one product I’ve used for over a year now and will probably use for a long time to come. It’s gentle on the skin, affordable, and a little goes a looooong way. It’s especially great when used with a Clarisonic or some other gentle face brush to cleanse skin after a long day, or by itself first thing in the morning. Doesn’t leave your skin feeling stripped of moisture like some washes do either!
Everyone should use a toner. It’s great for minimizing pores, protecting skin, and helps restore your skin’s natural pH balance. Thayers just has the added benefit of being free of alcohol, parabens and propylene glycol, having witch hazel and aloe vera, and a great soft rose petal fragrance. And because it’s alcohol free it doesn’t burn or scar. Used daily after cleansing.
Shout out to RekiaWeekly for putting me on this one! It’s an affordable mask that really leaves your skin soft and blemish free! Warning – it does tingle/burn a bit when you put in on your face, but that’s just the tea tree natural sensation. And with this gem a little goes a loooong way as well. Using it weekly, I think the 4oz tub could last me at least 8 months, if not an entire year.
Check out these products and let me know what you think!
