I identify so much with that post about focusing more on God than Jesus. Any advice on how to ‘seek Jesus’.?

Hey Hun!
Yes, I do have advice!
What really helped me when I realized the ‘Jesus deficiency’ in my life is that I began to study Jesus. The beginning to any relationship is getting to know the other person – what do they like, dislike, what are their views, where do they come from, how do they think. Basically we courted haha. And the more I got to know him, the closer I felt to him. The deeper i fell in love with him and fully came to grasp who he is and what it is he did for me. And knowing him intimately is what makes the difference between simply practicing a religion and really living life the way God intended us to.

What Lie Are You Believing?

What false report?
What words of negativity were spoken over your life that have taken root in your heart and sprouted seeds of doubt and fear without you even knowing it?
Seeds that started off as tiny shoots but have grown to be a field of weeds in which nothing good can grow? In which the promises of God just can’t take root?
We all have them, but to be honest, I didn’t think I had any till yesterday when God showed me just how much a single statement had made me a slave to a spirit of worthlessness – a slave to the same lie the enemy has used since Adam: ‘you are not enough’.

Hi Eudora, can you please give me some advice on unpacking spiritually after a retreat or conference. This is because I came from one some weeks ago but it seems like after coming I am more disorganized or slacking in my Christian journey than before. It’s as if I can’t keep up with life.

Baby girl (or boy), that’s exactly what I would expect to happen after having a powerful encounter with God. Because what happens is that it’s the enemy’s goal to get you off track. To distract you. To blind you from whatever was released to you during that conference.
See, there’s no way you can enter God’s presence in such a powerful setting and ever leave the same. Things shift in the spiritual. Things start to be worked out in your favor. The gates of heaven open and are ready to pour out whatever God has for you with no holding back.

Hello Eudora, what are your opinions about different doctrines in the church like calvinism, arminianism, and molinism? Do you think they are important to learn and apply to our Christian lives? Can we live Christian lives without bothering about such things at all?

I think what doctrines do is create a situation where people become more consumed with understanding God than getting to know Him.
There is a difference.
Understanding God is basically theology. Doctrine. Using human understanding to contemplate a being who supersedes and predates human understanding. Knowing God is about approaching God without any preconceived notions of who He is or how He works, and getting to know Him personally. Jesus said in John 7:
If anyone’s will is to do God’s will, he will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority.

10 Habits of Highly Effective Christians

I know, I know – You’re probably wondering what a Highly Effective Christian is.
In 1989 Stephen Covey published the NY Times Bestseller “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, a book geared at helping people be effective at achieving their goals by aligning themselves to, what he calls, ‘the ‘True North’ principles of character ethic that are universal and timeless’.
Along those lines, a highly effective Christian is one who is actively working at living out their God-given purpose by aligning themselves with God – the ‘True North’ – to His unchanging Word and to His Will concerning their life.

Hello. I know as Christians we have to follow the will of God and put Him first in all we do. Even in ‘simple’ things like the church you go to or the classes you take in college. How do we hear from Him and intentionally act on His will in our lives. In short how do I know this is the decision He wants me to make.

Hey Hun!
God’s word is more practical than we think – and while the intricacies of our lives are not all going to be spelt out (like what classes you should take in college), it’s the best place to start. Too many times I’ve found God’s word just comes alive and suddenly becomes relevant to my situation when I need it most.
For the things that we need extra guidance on, it’s really as simple as asking Him. We talk to God so often but never really expect to hear back from Him – it’s like making a call but not expecting the person you called to say anything back… why call at all? You have to believe that when you ask a question, God is able to answer.

The Message in the Storm Part 2: Knowing Your Identity in the Storm

We’ve been discussing the concept of identity with the student ministry in my church. For middle and high schoolers it’s an important topic given all the social pressures kids experience these days. But as I was thinking about this series yesterday, I thought about identity and how it’s important to know who you are no matter what age you are. We all face external pressures that cause us to question- and even to compromise- our identities. And so I thought today would be a good day to talk about that.
So before we step into today’s storm, what is identity? One of my students defined it as ‘what makes you You, and not someone else’.
