De Bon Aire: Jake’s Story

De bon aire: Old French used to describe a gentleman of good disposition.
Debonair: A man of confidence, style and charm.
Whichever form of the word you choose to describe Jake, you can’t go wrong, as both more than aptly describe the man who has come to be one of my dearest friends. As a Christian you come to be wary of the voices you listen to, and the people who give you counsel, but I can confidently say Jake is one of the few people who I allow to speak with authority in my life, because he is truly a man after God’s own heart. That and he is the first to tell me what to/what not to wear on a date lol.

For Freedom: Jenn’s Story

I thought I’d be amiss to wrap up this #ForFreedom series without another ‘S&S’ interview from another amazing person I have had the honor of doing life with and serving alongside for the past 2 years. The first real time we engaged was during a weekly early Friday morning prayer meeting, and I have watched both of us grow in service and in ministry and in our heart for all things Jesus ever since. Aside from Jesus we share an unhealthy addiction for Sephora, and a love for looking cute.

Dana’s Story: Faith, Marriage and Motherhood (Pt. 2)

At this point in the conversation we were joined by a teething Ava as we discussed what it’s like watching Ava grow, meeting her husband Alex, and how they have gone on to grow in faith as a family.

So, I know from reading your blog that you had two losses before having Ava – I can imagine that finding out you were pregnant yet again must have been a difficult experience to say the least. Do you think there was a moment when you really exhaled? When you put your fears aside and said, ‘this is going to be OK – she’s going to be OK.’?
Gosh, I think my exhale moment with Ava was when she was born.

Dana’s Story: Faith, Marriage, and Motherhood (pt. 1)

My own story speaks of a singular narrative: of a single Ghanaian-American woman in her mid-twenties pursuing Christ and all he has for her in this season. But there are many people in other seasons of life – and God is speaking to them too. I’m excited to share this first part of an interview I did with Dana, wife to Alex and mother of the beautiful baby Ava and puppy Bentley. Her story is one of strength, perseverance, humility, and grace in the face of challenge and loss. She, like all of us, is striving to be attentive to everything God is teaching her in the season she’s in, and I hope her narrative blesses you as much as it did me.

Joel Sackey: Faith, Photography and Beards

When I started brainstorming about Slayed and Saved, I knew a big part of it would be sharing stories of of other Christians I’ve met along the way and how they’re working at living out their faith just like I am. I didn’t want it to be just my narrative, but rather chronicles of different perspectives that all pointed in the same direction, and different voices all proclaiming the same truth. Choosing the first person to interview really wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, even though he wasn’t the obvious choice.
I met Joel through blogging as Ms.
